Our Standards & Accreditations

✅ Welding to AS/NZS 1554.1

Structural steel welding to the recognised Australian/New Zealand standard. Our welding practice follows AS/NZS 1554.1, the standard covering the welding of steel structures. Where your engineer specifies a weld category, welding procedure or inspection regime for a project, we work to that specification and arrange independent weld testing where verification is required.

Why it matters: AS/NZS 1554.1 sets out how structural welds should be prepared, executed and inspected. Working to it means your steelwork is welded using established methods rather than whatever's quickest - and it gives your engineer a common reference point when they specify the work.

Welding Practice

✅ Certification Matched To Your Project

Welder qualifications are specific, so we treat them that way. A welder qualification covers a defined range - the welding process, the material, the joint type, the thickness and the position. A certificate covering one combination doesn't automatically cover another. Where a project calls for certified welding outside what our team currently holds, we arrange certification for that specific requirement before the work starts. We've done it before and it's a normal part of pricing a job that needs it.

Why it matters: Any fabricator can point at a certificate. Fewer will tell you what it actually covers. We'd rather work out at quote stage exactly what qualification your project calls for and arrange it if we don't already hold it - so the certification behind your work is current, specific and relevant, rather than a general claim that may or may not stretch to cover you.

Project-Specific

✅ Material Certificates Issued On Request

Traceability when your project calls for it. If your project requires material traceability, tell us at quote stage and we'll supply mill certificates for the materials used. Getting it specified up front means we source accordingly and the paperwork is ready when you need it, rather than chasing certificates after the fact.

Why it matters: Why it matters: Some projects - particularly structural elements and anything under engineer review - need documented proof of what the steel actually is. It's straightforward when it's planned for, and awkward when it isn't.

Documentation

✅ Producer Statements

The compliance paperwork, handled at both ends. Where your project needs design certification, we can arrange a PS1 (Design) through an independent engineer — whether we've designed the work ourselves or you'd simply rather we took care of it. At the end of the build, we issue the PS3 (Construction) on our fabrication, confirming the work was completed in accordance with the approved drawings.

Why it matters: PS1 and PS3 are separate documents that come from different parties, and councils will want the right one from the right source. Rather than leaving you to line that up, we can handle both ends - the design certification going in, and the construction statement coming out.

Building Consent Documentation

✅ Pipe Welding Certification (AS/NZS ISO 9606.01:2017)

Specialist qualification for pressure-critical work. Our team holds current AS/NZS ISO 9606.01:2017 pipe welding certificates, certifying our expertise in welding pipe and tube to international standards. This qualification is essential for any fabrication work involving pressurised systems or critical applications.

Why it matters: Pipe welding requires specialist skill and rigorous testing. These certificates prove our team has been independently assessed and verified to perform this work to the highest standard.

Specialist Certification

✅ ASME B.31.3 Pressure Testing

Qualified to pressure test pipes and pressure systems. We are qualified to pressure test piping systems to the ASME B.31.3 Standard (American Society of Mechanical Engineers). This certification demonstrates our capability to perform critical testing that ensures pipes and pressure vessels meet design specifications and safety requirements.

Why it matters: Pressure testing isn't something every fabricator can do. It requires specific training, equipment and certification. This qualification ensures your pressure systems are tested by someone who knows what they're doing.

Technical Qualification

✅ Independent Weld Testing

Third-party verification where your project calls for it. Where a specification requires independent verification of welds, we arrange certified testing through qualified independent inspectors. You get objective, documented confirmation that the welds meet the design specification - from someone with no stake in the outcome.

As with material certificates, tell us at quote stage if your project requires weld testing. It's a project-specific cost, and it's far easier to price in than to add partway through a job.

Why it matters: Sometimes your project requires independent verification. Rather than you having to source this separately, we handle it. The result is documented, tested, verified fabrication.

Workplace health and safety commitment. All members of our team hold current ConstructSafe certification, demonstrating our commitment to safe work practices and ongoing safety training in the construction and fabrication sector.

Why it matters: Quality fabrication starts with safe processes. ConstructSafe certification means our team is trained, aware and committed to doing the work safely - which protects your site and your project.

Safety Standard

✅ Totika Accreditation

Independent verification of our health and safety systems. Fabrication Specialists are Totika accredited, meaning that our health and safety systems, documentation and on-site practices have been independently assessed as fit-for-purpose for the type of work we do and the risks we manage.

Why it matters: When you engage a Totika-accredited fabricator, you’re working with a contractor whose health and safety capability has already been verified by an industry-endorsed scheme, helping you reduce procurement effort and manage site risk with greater confidence.

Safety Standard
